The story behind the smiles

Meet Dr Lisa

I never planned on living in London

Born and trained in Germany, my journey has taken me through Scotland and back again before eventually making London home. Over the past 15 years, I have developed a passion for creating natural-looking smiles and helping patients feel more confident in themselves.

I believe the best dentistry starts with listening. Every smile is different, and understanding the person behind it is just as important as understanding their teeth.

My philosophy is simple

Beautiful dentistry begins with healthy dentistry. Healthy tooth structure is precious, so I always look for the least invasive solution that will achieve the best long-term result. Dentistry allows me to combine creativity with science, precision and attention to detail. Whether I’m planning Invisalign treatment, sculpting composite bonding or restoring a single tooth, my goal is always the same: to create smiles that look healthy, natural and completely at home on the person wearing them.

If someone notices your smile but not your dentistry, I’ve done my job well.

My journey

My interest in dentistry began in Germany, where an early experience as a patient left me wondering whether there was a better way to care for people. That thought eventually shaped my entire career.

During university, I spent a semester in Scotland and quickly fell in love with life in the UK. After graduation, I moved to Edinburgh to begin my career before returning to Germany for a few years. When my husband was offered a job in London in 2014, we embraced the opportunity and have called the city home ever since.

Over the years, my career has evolved from general dentistry into a particular passion for cosmetic and restorative dentistry. Along the way, I became increasingly interested not only in teeth, but also in the wider factors that influence oral health, facial development and overall wellbeing.

Education & Credentials

I qualified as a dentist from the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital in Dresden in 2009 and have been practising in the UK since 2010 (GDC number: 188491).

My commitment to lifelong learning has led me to pursue extensive postgraduate training in restorative, aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry, including a Postgraduate Certificate in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry.

I have completed advanced training in Invisalign, composite bonding, dental photography, occlusion and minimally invasive restorative techniques. More recently, my professional interests have expanded to include sleep-disordered breathing, oral development and elastodontics.

One of the aspects of dentistry I enjoy most is treatment planning. Every smile presents a different challenge, and finding the most conservative solution that creates a healthy, natural-looking and long-lasting result is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

As part of my commitment to continuous learning, I am currently participating in the DRMR Mentorship Programme led by Dr Manrina Rhode. The programme allows me to continue refining my approach to smile design and aesthetic dentistry while staying up to date with the latest evidence-based techniques and developments in the field.

I continue to invest in postgraduate education every year so my patients benefit from the latest evidence-based techniques and advances.

Looking Beyond the Teeth

One of the things I love most about dentistry is that there is always more to learn.

Early in my career in London, I noticed a growing number of patients presenting with teeth grinding, cracked teeth and significant tooth wear. The more I saw, the more I wanted to understand why. This led to a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of cracked teeth and cracked tooth syndrome, an area I continue to study closely today.

Becoming a parent sparked another area of interest. During children’s dental examinations, I became increasingly aware of how breathing, swallowing habits and jaw development can influence oral health and overall wellbeing.

Over the last few years, I have spent considerable time learning about the relationship between breathing, oral development, sleep-disordered breathing and long-term health. I find it fascinating to look beyond individual teeth and consider the bigger picture of how oral health fits into overall wellbeing.

When I’m Not in the Clinic

Outside dentistry, life revolves around my family. I love spending time with my husband and our son, exploring London, discovering new places and planning our next adventure together. We also enjoy bringing friends together, from relaxed summer barbecues in the garden to cosy evenings catching up over good food.

Travel has always been one of my greatest passions. I love discovering new destinations, experiencing different cultures and sampling local cuisine wherever I go. Sunshine is always a bonus. Equally, you’ll find me wandering through a traditional Christmas market with a mug of mulled wine in hand – a little reminder of my German roots.

Creativity doesn’t stop when I leave the practice. I enjoy photography, interior design and DIY projects, and I love creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional. In many ways, these interests reflect the same attention to detail and appreciation of aesthetics that I bring to my work as a cosmetic dentist.

As much as I love being a dentist and a mum, I also believe it’s important not to lose yourself along the way. Every year, I make time to step away from the day-to-day routine, whether that’s attending a yoga retreat on my own or escaping for a city break with close friends. Taking time to reset helps me return with fresh energy, a clear mind and renewed creativity.

Dentistry is a profession that demands focus, precision and empathy every single day. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance allows me to bring the very best version of myself to my patients: calm, creative and fully present.
