Previously Chipped and Repaired Front Teeth

Subtle Changes, Major Impact

Samantha came to me feeling self-conscious about her smile. The composite fillings on her upper front teeth had become stained over time and no longer blended naturally with the surrounding enamel.

While she wanted the old restorations replaced, her biggest concern was that the edges of the new fillings would eventually become visible again. She wanted a result that looked completely natural – not a smile that appeared “filled.”

BeforeBeforeAfter

A Conservative Approach

We began with professional whitening to create a brighter, more even foundation. Once her new shade had stabilised, I carefully removed the old restorations and replaced them with fresh composite bonding.

Achieving a seamless result required more than simply matching a single shade. By carefully layering multiple composite shades and translucencies, I was able to recreate the depth, character and light reflection of natural enamel, allowing the restorations to blend invisibly with the surrounding teeth.

I also used additive composite bonding to close a small black triangle between the central incisors and refine the incisal edges, improving balance and symmetry while preserving healthy tooth structure.

The result is a brighter, more harmonious smile, with restorations that disappear naturally into the teeth rather than drawing attention to themselves.

Natural Results

The final result was fresh, bright, and beautifully natural. The old stained restorations were replaced with composite bonding that blends seamlessly with her surrounding tooth structure, creating a smile that looks healthy and harmonious rather than restored.

By carefully layering multiple composite shades and translucencies, I was able to achieve a result where the restoration margins disappear into the natural teeth, addressing Samantha’s biggest concern from the outset.

The changes were subtle, but the impact was significant. Her smile still looks like hers – just brighter, more balanced, and more confident.

Her only regret? Not doing it sooner.
