More Than Just a Gap
Alexander came in wanting to improve his smile, though he wasn’t quite sure what that meant at first. For many people, a gap between the front teeth is simply a cosmetic concern. For Alexander, it was more complicated.
The space had been a feature shared by several members of his family. It was familiar, recognisable, and part of how he saw himself. While he was aware of other aspects of his smile that bothered him, including a chipped tooth, a noticeable white spot and slightly uneven tooth proportions, he was unsure whether closing the gap would mean losing something that felt uniquely his.
This is often where the most important conversations begin.
Rather than focusing solely on the gap itself, I looked at the overall balance of his smile. The aim was never to create a generic “perfect” smile, but to enhance what was already there while preserving the character that made it his.

Visualising the Possibilities
Before making any permanent changes, I created a temporary mock-up so Alexander could see and experience the proposed result.
This gave him the opportunity to live with the changes, reflect on them, and even share photographs with his family. Given the emotional significance of the gap, their opinion mattered.
The response was overwhelmingly positive.
Rather than feeling like a different person, Alexander felt like a more polished version of himself.
Composite Bonding with a Natural Approach
Using composite bonding, I carefully refined the shape and proportions of his front teeth, improved symmetry, disguised the white spot and closed the space in a way that looked natural and unforced.
Every adjustment was designed to blend seamlessly with his existing smile.
The result was not simply the absence of a gap. It was a smile with improved balance, harmony and confidence, while still feeling completely authentic to him.
